LMS Robotics Teams Advance to the Championships

 - 12/12/16, Mount Prospect, Il. - 

On Saturday, December 12th, the Mount Prospect Regional Qualifier was held at Lincoln Middle School. Both LMS Robotics teams competed and advanced to the Northern Illinois State Championship, to be held at Elgin Community College, on January 14th, along with 64 other teams from across the state. 
At the Mount Prospect Qualifier, there were 2 separate tournament, Tournament "A" and Tournament "B", with 16 team competing in each tournament. 

LMS Robotics Team 492, The PropellerHeads, competed in the "A Tournament, and in the robot portion of the competition, they fished 2nd, with a score of 174 points, just 2 points behind the first place winner. Team 492 was also presented the Robot Design Award, giving to the team that designs and develops a mechanically sound robot that is durable, efficient and highly capable of performing challenge missions, utilizes outstanding programming principles, including clear, concise and reusable code that allows their robot to perform challenge missions autonomously and consistently, and uses solid engineering practices and a well-developed strategy to design and build an innovative, high performing robot. The Propeller Heads was also selected as one of the 4 teams that will be advancing to the Northern Championship Tournament.

LMS Robotics team 493, The Bee-lievers, also had a very strong showing In the Mount Prospect "B" Tournament, with a 3rd place finish in the Robot portion of the Competition. The Bee-Lievers were also awarded the Core values award for being a team that is empowered by their FIRST LEGO League experience and displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, showing that they are able to accomplish more together than they could as individuals through shared goals, strong communication, effective problem solving and excellent time management, and showing each other and other teams respect at all times, and recognizing that both friendly competition and mutual gain are possible, on and off the playing field. The Bee-Lievers were selected as one of the 4 teams that will be advancing to the Northern Championship Tournament.
